Have you ever wondered where speakers go to improve their skill and learn about their business? They go to industry conferences just like any other business to listen to other speakers talk about their profession. Believe it or not, there is even a special association for speakers. The New England chapter of the National Speakers Association is one such group. They conduct monthly meeting as well as an annual conference for speakers. This year's Speakers Conference will be conducted in the Boston, MA area on April 8th & 9th. Some of the seminar topics that are scheduled are not the normal ones you would expect to see at conferences. A sampling of some of the topics include, "Racing Around the Exploding Star" by Alan Weiss, PhD, CMC, CSP, "Big Planet, Small World - Connecting with People in the Internet Age" by Jerry Gitchel, "Beyond Tomorrow: The Future Is NOT What It Used to Be!" By Terry J. van der Werff, DPhil, CMC, and "It's Time to Invest in Yourself" with Tina Dupree, PhD, "The Chicken Lady." What are these topics all about? Professional speakers from across the Northeast as well as those who are looking to get into the speaking profession are expected to attend and find out. In addition to the 5 keynote presentations that will be presented by nationally known speakers, nine other concurrent workshops will be conducted during the two-day conference. Titled "Stepping into the Future" the conference will focus on two objectives as speakers learn on how they can prepare for the future of the speaking industry and how to help their clients step into the future of their industries. The National Speakers Association, which has 4,000 members, is celebrating its 30th year of serving the speaking profession and the meetings industry. The New England Chapter, which is conducting the conference, is one of 36 chapters around the world.Additional information on the April 8th & 9th conference can be obtained by contacting the New England chapter of the National Speakers Association at 800 672-8330 or by visiting their web site at: www.nsanewengland.com/conf_home.asp.

Car speakers are an integral part of the car radio system. Their function is to absorb the signals from the power amplifier and deliver them to you. There are three components that speakers in delivering sound ? tweeters, woofers, and midrange drivers.

The tweeter and the woofer manage low and high frequency sounds, respectively. As the name implies, the midrange drivers manage the midrange frequency.

You need to choose the amplifier and woofer based on your car speaker and what you want to install in terms of a car stereo system. Mostly, speakers are installed with other components in such a way that they produce the maximum sound. But remember that others may be inconvenienced because of these "noise makers," as they are sometimes referred to.

You can opt for different kinds and brands for the front and rear end speakers so that they blend perfectly to produce superior quality sound.

For example, you can choose Oxygen sphere 100s for front speakers. You need to choose a CD player that allows you to add features in the future, and possesses a good amplification system and excellent sound quality. You may or may not go in for a subwoofer. In such a case, it would be better if you opt for full range speakers placed on a MDF parcel shelf.

To utilize the available space in a car, usually speakers are installed in doors. However, the quality of sound produced is sometimes compromised because of the service holes in the doors. The basic function of a speaker is to receive electric signals and convert them into sound. It is not always true that expensive speakers produce high ? quality sound.

Factors like resonance and inertial effects determine the efficiency of speakers. Powered speakers have built-in amplifiers and can be directly connected to a sound source..

The installation kits and guides for car stereo systems are handy and helpful not only for beginners but also for those who want to try their hand in doing small repairs or remodeling.

Installation may mean adding new features or replacing the stock audio system. You can customize the stock audio system of your car by replacing the stereo, speakers and amplifier with those of your choice.

Before actually starting the installation task, double-check that you are in ready possession of the needed tools, like screwdrivers, wire stripper, crimper, wiring ties, butt splices, the dash bit, etc. In some cases, you may require an antenna adapter. These are readily available with your stereo retailer.

The best way to install your car speakers, stereos, amplifiers etc is to follow the instructions given in the instruction manual. Every car has a specific model of audio system. So, plan what best you can install in your vehicle.

In most cars, the front speakers are preferably round, while the rear speakers are oval. It is better if you choose to retain same stock location for speakers, to avoid breaking the door panel or the retaining dips in case of removing speakers installed in doors.

Basically, car stereo installation includes radio installation, front speaker, rear end speaker installation and the selection of equipment.

You can upgrade your car stereo system and install equipment with better features. For example, you can choose a head unit with remote control and a rigid face.

The head unit is the mostly likely part that is upgraded whenever there is any new arrival in the market. After all, the speakers and stereos determine the quality of sound produced.

Some of the other components which are upgraded in a high-end car stereo are amplifiers, alternators, cables, audio processors, woofer enclosure, equalizers, DVD, navigation etc.

You need to constantly upgrade the alternators according to your vehicle's current capability in terms of the electrical system. If you want to install very large audio systems in your car, then you may need loads of batteries to control fluctuations in current flow and thereby enjoy your favorite music for longer periods. You would not run out of power.

In the US, to assist you in high-end or custom car stereo installations, there are a couple of learning centers, namely The Syntec Technical School and Mobile Dynamics.

If music is your passion, then install an audio system perfectly suited to your car and listen to your favorite music endlessly..

Have you noticed how often speakers and lecturers say, "I'm
going to repeat that" or "I'll say that again" or "That's right
? repeat ?" ?

You've thought, "Gee, she sure likes to repeat herself." or,
"Yea, I get it. That's the third time."

Accidental?

Not really!

You see folks, speakers, teachers and trainers know how
human memory retention works: repetition is a valuable tool.

"Repetition is the mother of learning"

Again: "Repetition is the mother of learning."

One more time, "Repetition is the mother of learning."

Children learn through repetition and adult learning is no different.

Statistics prove, when you've heard something three times or
more you'll remember 80 to 85 %.

That's right friend, you'll likely remember 80 to 85 % of what
you've heard three times or more!

That compares with less than 20 % of what you've heard only
once.

And, if you see it in writing (on a slide for example)

and write it down (take notes),

you'll retain it for a much longer time.

So to repeat; if you hear something three times, write it down and
review your notes, chances are

"You've got it".

Long term.

It's yours!

Valuable?

Not really.

Unless:

You want to experience an incredible memory improvement!

You want to remember more of what you hear at a seminar.

You want people to remember more of what you say to them.

You just want to be more effective in what you do and how you
interrelate with others.

You just want to feel good about yourself.

And about what you do.

And about how much impact you have on other people's lives.

Now you've got it!.

Repetition can help you to have a greater impact on the lives of
people you interact with!

Long term.

It's yours!
Ask any professional speaker how an industry newbie should go about securing public speaking jobs, and the response frequently sounds something like...
* Attend Toastmasters meetings and practice your skills.
* Join the National Speakers Association to learn more about the industry.
* Do talks at Chambers of Commerce and Rotary Clubs.

But what if you know you're a good speaker... you understand the intricacies of the speaking industry... and you've done your share of gratuitious freebie presentations. Where do you head then? How do you go about looking for public speaking jobs?

Here are 4 tips to help you locate seemingly elusive public speaking jobs online.

1) Go to Google and Yahoo, and search for the following phrases 'calls for speakers' and 'speakers wanted.' (Without the quotes.)

In the results you'll instantly find links to organizations and conferences that are looking for public speakers.

While many different topics are covered under these searches, you'll find there are frequently a lot of technology speakers wanted. So if this is your niche, it's a good possibility you could get lucky.

2) Check out the Speakers Forum sponsored by Speakers Platform.

Honestly this forum isn't teeming with public speaking jobs. But on occasion you will find a golden nugget.

In fact, this is where I found my first public speaking job many years ago. The meeting planner just happened to be hiring several different speakers, and I was one of them.

You can check it out at: (http://www.speaking.com/educationforum/index.cgi)

3) Follow the conference schedules for targeted associations.

Most associations hold some type of yearly or semiannual conference. Speakers are frequently sought after, so this is an ideal place to locate a public speaking job.

They will typically begin searching for speakers 6-8 months ahead of time. Sometimes less, sometimes more.

You should find out when their next conference is held, and begin checking back to the association web site 6-7 months ahead of time. Calls for speakers sometimes don't get picked up in the search engines right away.

The American Society of Association Executives has an extensive directory of associations at (http://www.asaenet.org/AssociationSearch.cfm?requesttimeout=240&sn.ItemNumber=7333).

4) Apply to training companies.

Fred Pryor/CareerTracks is frequently hiring contract speakers on a variety of topics. The job does require traveling and the ability to sell their products to attendees. According to the the Pryor web site, top contract trainers earn in excess of $75,000 (USD) a year.

You'll be very busy. But it's great experience, especially for budding speakers.

You've finally made up your mind to buy a plasma TV. You dream of watching your favorite television shows in full stereo, with sharp, crisp picture resolution. But how do you go about finding your dream TV? Here are a few tips that will help you get started.

The first thing that you should do is to decide on the size of the television monitor you want. Generally speaking, plasma TVs begin at around 32" and go as large as 63". The most common screen sizes are usually 32", 42", 50" and 61". So, measure the area where you want to place your TV to get an idea of which size would be most practical for you. It's important to remember that most plasma TVs have detachable speakers, so you will need to allow for a few extra inches on either side of where the screen will be.

You may well have the option to buy extra slim speakers, which attach directly to the monitor, if you don't want to use your own or an additional sound system, with surround sound. It is important to check that the model TV that you want to purchase has built-in amplifiers, or you will have to purchase or use an external receiver.

Once you've ironed out the size and type of sound system you want, you will have to consider the various mounting options that are available. The most common way to mount your new TV is with what is known as flat wall mounts. This is usually the cheapest option and places the plasma monitor almost flat against the wall. Another popular mounting system for plasma TVs is the Tilt Wall Mounting system. This allows the monitor to tilt away from the wall up to 15?. If you don't want to have the monitor tilted, you can opt for a simple table stand. This is ideal for the smaller monitors, allowing it to be used in boardrooms for video conference calls or in your living room.

There are many factors to consider, when buying your plasma TV. However, if you plan carefully, you should enjoy your new home entertainment center for years to come.

1. Be YourselfIt's great to watch other successful speakers, to see what they do and how they do it. To be a great speaker in your own right requires you to develop your own style, to speak using your own voice. Be yourself when you speak and you can't help but be successful. 2. Be BoldYou might think that it takes boldness just to stand up and start talking, and it does, but there are plenty of speakers out there who come across like timid mice. Be bold as a speaker, confident in your abilities. Practice every day, give speeches whenever you can. 3. Be differentSuccessful speakers aren't like everybody else. There's something that sets them apart. Makes them stand out. They're the speakers who do more than just stand in the front of the room and talk at you. 4. Be funnySuccessful speakers know how to be funny, that is: they know when and where to use humor in their presentations... and they aren't afraid to do so. 5. Be engagingListening to a speech is, for most people, a passive activity. Successful speakers involve their audiences and converse with them so that it's a conversation, not a talking-to. 6. Be positiveNo matter what the subject, successful speakers are always positive with their audiences. They help their audiences learn what to do as opposed to what NOT to do. They focus on the upside, not the downside. 7. Be challenging.Lastly, great speakers always challenge their audiences to do great things. And again, it doesn't matter what the subject. A successful speaker gives you the know-how and the challenge to make your life more enjoyable and more rewarding everyday. ?2001 .
